Hi! and welcome to "Yui-Ikari" (or "Ikari-Yui"
in Japan). Yui is a PowerBook 520 that I picked up
a while ago on craigslist. Thanks to PatNukem on 68kmla, I repurposed the
machine into one that has
life again! This time, it's as a server ;-). I toyed with
the idea of using it as a regular machine, but decided
that I would rather have something cool made out of it. Thus,
using MacHTTP off the net, and a Farallon
Ethernet adapter, I have the thing sitting next to my LCD on the side
of the desk serving this page.
This site marks the 3rd (and hopefully final) site of this webpage. I
hope that by using NVU (Pronounced
"N-View" I will be able to make a webpage that is easier to maintain
than the previous ones made in iWeb.
I would forget to backup my webpage files, or I would work on one
machine and move to another and
wouldn't have the files and I would have to start over again with the
website. So I am not coding with a
standard WYSIWYG editor (NVU) to make this easier, since I can load up
the data easier and work with it
Without having to worry about archives. Also, this coding
(without CSS) will make older machines, such
as the ones this is being hosted on, to be able to read and display the
webpage like I wanted it.
Anyways, I have a few updates (I will add a "News" section for the
latest news) that I would like to to
see. Just click the "News" link at the top. that will bring you the
latest news.
*Exciting news!!!*
The Powerbook is BACK UP!!! A ram module (16MB) had died in it
and since I couldn't run the system on a RAM Drive with only 4MB, I had
to replace it.
My friend had managed to get a hold of another 16MB RAM Card for it and
it is now in!
You are now viewing the system that is back up and running. May
she live years longer!
